Each Summer Camp is designed to either introduce students to a new performing arts experience or hone in on skills they already have, using them in new and creative ways.
SHINE! Musical Theatre
Musical Theatre Hits Camp

Get ready for a week filled with creativity, laughter, and fun as students dive into the world of musical theatre! Students will sing, dance and act their way through well loved musicals, putting together a spectacular Musical Hits Mash-Up performance at the end of camp for friends and family. Whether you’re a seasoned performer or a curious beginner, this camp is the perfect place to unleash your inner star!

The week of dance exploration will include dance technique, dance activities, crafts and choreography in multiple dance genres. The week will conclude in a camp end performance to share the dancers’ hard work, creativity and awesome dancing skills with their family!

12:30-2:30pm Level 3-5 Acro OR 3 years comp level gymnastics 6-8yrs
2:30-4:30 Level 6-8+ Acro OR 3 years comp level gymnastics 9+yrs

*EXPERIENCE REQUIRED. These camps are for athletes who are at an Acrobatic Arts Level listed above or students who have competitive gymnastics experience. If you do not meet these requirements, please enrol in our Explore! Acro Camp and we will assess the best camp on the first day.
This camp is for dancers who want to enhance their acrobatic dance repertoire with partnering work, tumbling and new skills as well as work on maintaining strength and flexibility throughout the summer. Dancers will put together an entertaining camp end performance filled with athleticism, strength and flexibility.

Explore the athleticism of acro dance through a week of themed crafts, strengthening routines, skill exercises and choreography. We are welcoming dancers who are new to acro as well as acrobatic arts level 1 or 2 students to these camps!

Experience the process of creating, performing in and editing a dance/music video!
Students will develop a theme or storyline, select music, scout out filming locations, put together costuming and take the choreography learned in class outside to film around the Sapperton area. Each participant will receive the completed Dance Video that they created starring your student and their fellow creators!

CREATE! Songwriting Workshop
Singer-Songwriting Workshop
Camp Dates: July 27, July 29, & July 31 (Mon/Wed/Fri 3 Days)
Camp Ages: 10-15yrs

Join Motion and Music Performing Arts for a 3-day Singer-Songwriter Workshop, where you can explore your musical creativity and express yourself through words and music.
In this 3-day songwriting workshop you will:
Deepen your understanding of basic music theory, harmony and chord progressions. Keyboards will be provided, or you can bring a chordal instrument if you already know how to play (guitar, ukulele, etc.)
Explore creative writing exercises, poetic devices, conventional song structures, and practice melodic improvisation.
Participate in vocal warmups and exercises, as well as fun ear training games and exercises.
Choose a “fill in the blank” songwriting project to complete your own original song, or start from scratch and create your own masterpiece, with help and guidance along the way.
Summer Camp Refund & Withdrawal Policies
Camp & Workshop Deposits ($20+GST) are non-refundable and non-creditable.
If notice is given one week or more prior to the start date, Motion & Music retains the deposit and the remaining tuition will be refunded.
If notice is given less than a week before the start date but more than 24 hours, Motion & Music retains 25% of the total tuition.
If notice is given 24 hours or less, the camp/workshop/single class is non-refundable and non-creditable.

To withdraw, the Student or parent/guardian of the Student must notify our administration staff via email at admin@motionandmusic.ca. Non-attendance or non-payment of outstanding fees does not constitute a formal withdrawal. The withdrawal date is based on when the email was sent.
